Ludwig Van Beethoven or as we call him Beethoven, was a famous music
composer. He was born in Bonn, Germany in 1770. Both his father and his
grandfather are composers. He showed an interest in composing when he was
a child.
Beethoven went to Austria when he was 17. He went there to learn more about composing. When his mother died, he had to return home and raise his brothers. He moved to Austria and never came back to Germany when he was 22.
He learned composing from Haydn, another great composer. He played for Mozart before the respected composer died.
He wrote some of the greatest music at that time.Beethoven created great music. Some of them are Moonlight Sonata, Sonata Pathetique, Fur Elise, Fidelio, Ode to Joy, Beethoven’s 5th #5, and many other great music piece.
Before he lost his hearings, he heard buzzing sounds in his ears. He tried many hearing devices but none of them worked. At first he hide his disability from his friends. He listens by reading people’s lips when they are talking or have them written in a notebook. Even though he is deaf, he continued to compose music.
Doctors tried many ways for Beethoven to have his hearings back. They tried pouring warm milk and crushed nuts into his ear, but it doesn’t work. They also tried to rub Beethoven’s hand with oil and it also didn’t work.He could still compose after he lost his hearings because he hears the music inside his head. Other sounds don’t matter to him.
Beethoven has a bad temper. He tends to get angry easily. It is because his life is stormy. He has lots of sad and discouraging times. He criticized other musicians when the piece of music didn’t play as he wanted it to.
Beethoven died in Vienna, Austria on 1827. There was a thundering storm that day and Beethoven raised his fist to the storm before he lay in his bed, dying. 50.000 people lined up in his funeral to respect the composer.
